This year marks the 18th all-time appearance for the Argentinian men's national soccer team. Argentina previously qualified for this tournament in 1930, 1934, 1958, 1962, 1966, 1974, 1978, 1982, 1986, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018.

La Albiceleste's appearance in 2018 was its most recent prior to this year, however, the Argentinians failed to make it beyond the Round of 16 for the first time since 2002.

The 2026 World Cup will be Argentina's 19th appearance if the country qualifies.
