Indianapolis Colts vs. Denver Broncos Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-6-2022

We have Thursday NFL night action on Amazon Prime as the Colts travel to Denver to take on the Broncos at 8:15pmET from Empower Field at Mile High.

The Colts are a disappointing 1-2-1 SU (1-3 ATS) on the season, while the Broncos are 2-2 SU (1-3 ATS).

After upsetting Kansas City on Sept. 25, 20-17, many felt that the Colts would start their turnaround. The defense held a very explosive offense to just 20 points and Matt Ryan was efficient with 222 yards with two TDs and no picks. But last Sunday, Indy got behind 24-3 to the AFC South-rival Tennessee and had to climb back in the game to make it competitive, before falling 24-17. This was a disastrous start for the Colts, who were hoping that the 37-year old Ryan was the difference-maker after they let Carson Wentz go. But since losing Andrew Luck to retirement, the quarterback position has been a disaster with Jacoby Brissett, Wentz and apparently Ryan as the culprits.

It really starts with the offensive line because Ryan is not very mobile. But he also has nine fumbles and has to be able to take care of the football. He has completed 66.2% of his passes for 1,125 yards with five TDS and five picks. To make matters worse, the Colts have not been able to run the football effectively despite having one of the best running backs in football in Jonathan Taylor. Taylor has 328 rushing yards and one TD, but just a 4.0 yards per carry average.

Taylor (ankle) is listed as questionable for this game though he plans to play.

“I definitely do plan to play, but if you can't go you can't go,” Taylor told Bleacher Report on Tuesday. “That's why you have to get as much treatment as you can.”

Overall, the Colts are averaging 252 yards per game (10th), but just 87.8 rushing yards (27th) with 14.3 points per game (32nd). They allow 297 yards per game (6th), just 89.5 rushing yards (6th) and 207.5 passing yards (10th). Unfortunately, star LB Shaq Leonard will miss this game due to a concussion and DE Tyquan Lewis (concussion) is also out.
