Miami Marlins vs. Atlanta Braves Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 4-24-2023

The Miami Marlins (12-10, 9-13 RL, 7-13-2 O/U) take on the Atlanta Braves (14-8, 9-13 RL, 12-9-1 O/U) in the first of a four-game NL East series on Monday evening. The Marlins will give the call to Edward Cabrera. The Braves give the nod to Spencer Strider. The Braves posted a 13-6 record against the Marlins last year.

Edward Cabrera will take the mound for the fifth time of the season to begin the series. Cabrera was stellar in his previous start, limiting the Giants to only two runs on six hits in six innings, and was credited with the win to improve to 2-1. The young right-hander had big issues with his command in his first two starts but has looked better in his last few outings and has recorded a 4.08 ERA and a poor 1.75 WHIP in 17.2 innings pitched on the season. Cabrera has limited the Braves to three runs in 8.2 career innings

The Marlins resume a six-game road trek. The Fish won two of three in Cleveland on the weekend. They swept the double-header on Saturday and lost 7-4 on Sunday. It’s been an encouraging opening month for a young squad that is ready to break out after a rebuild. They have won four consecutive series.

The Marlins added Jean Segura in the offseason to add experience to a young roster but so far he has not been able to find a groove with his new club, hitting .194 with one RBI and a .444 OPS. The veteran infielder posted a .723 OPS with the Phillies last year. He went 9 for 42 with four RBIs against the Braves last season.

The Marlins are scoring an average of 3.27 runs per game, ranking them 29th. They have recorded a 4.02 team ERA, placing them 13th.
