Two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rivals meet on Friday when the Canisius Golden Griffins (5-12, 3-5 MAAC) pay a visit to Fairfield, Connecticut and Leo D. Mahoney Arena to play the Fairfield Stags (7-10, 3-4 MAAC). Canisius defeated the Siena Saints 66-62 last Sunday. The Golden Griffins have won three of their last four. Fairfield snapped a three-game losing skid with a 56-52 victory over the St. Peter’s Peacocks last Saturday. Canisius will play without Frank Mitchell while Jordan Henderson is questionable and Xzavier Long is probable. Caleb Fields is questionable for Fairfield, while Brycen Goodine is out.

The Canisius Golden Griffins are allowing an average of 73.3 points per game, while opponents are averaging 46.5% shooting overall and 37.9% shooting from three-point land, which are 288th, 335th and 351st respectively. The Canisius offense is scoring an average of 69.5 points per game which is 235th. The Golden Griffins have a field goal shooting percentage of only 40.1% which is 346th and a three-point shooting percentage of 34.8% which is 137th. 

 

Jordan Henderson, who is questionable for Canisius and has missed each of the last four games, is the leading scorer for the Golden Griffins with an average of 13.5 points per game. Henderson is shooting 38.7% overall and 35.8% from long distance. Tahj Staveskie is the second leading scorer with an average of 12.1 points per game and is shooting even worse at 36.0% overa ll and 29.8% from behind the line. Staveskie is the leader in assists with an average of 2.7 dishes per contest. Canisius is averaging 35.2 rebounds per game, with Xzavier Long the king of the boards with an average of 6.0 rebounds per game. Staveskie is the leader in steals with an average of 1.1 per game, while Long is the swat leader with an average of 0.6 blocked shots per contest.
