Jim Harbaugh was introduced as Michigan head coach in December 2014, signing a seven-year, $35-million contract in returning to his alma mater.
Eight years and several contract extensions/amendments later, Harbaugh is now in the first year of a six-year contract worth more than $42 million.
Jim Harbaugh’s Contract
In mid-February 2022, approximately six weeks after Michigan lost to Georgia in the College Football Playoff semifinals, Harbaugh agreed to a new contract that replaced a new deal signed in January 2021, one that was largely viewed as a make-it-or-break-it, program-friendly deal for a coach on the college football hot seat.
The new five-year deal runs from Jan. 11, 2022, through the 2026 season, specifically “three days after last game played in 2026 season.”
