Winnipeg suffered their fourth straight loss as they were knocked off on the road by the Penguins in the Steel City Tuesday night. The Jets entered Wednesday 30-13-5 and was third in the Central Division, three points behind the Avalanche and Stars for the top spot in the Central Division. Winnipeg enters this one tied for 16th in the league in goals for as they average 3.08 goals a night. The Jets are 1st in goals against as they allow 2.31 goals per contest. Winnipeg is 24th on the power play by cashing in on 15.4% of the chances with the man advantage this season. The Jets are tied for 26th in the league in penalty killing as they successfully navigate 76.4% of their shorthanded situations.

Against Pittsburgh, Winnipeg’s offensive struggles in recent games reared their head again as they suffered a fourth straight defeat, scoring a total of three goals in that stretch. The Jets were outshot 12-8 in the opening period and trailed 1-0 on the scoreboard after 20 minutes of play. In the second period, Winnipeg was outshot by a 9-8 margin and outscored 2-0 to trail 3-0 at the second intermission. The third period saw the Jets with a 7-6 advantage in shots on goal but neither team was able to light the lamp, leaving them on the wrong end of a shutout loss. Connor Hellebuyck made 24 saves for the Jets, who were outshot 27-23, in the loss. He’s likely to be between the pipes again for this contest for Winnipeg.
