William & Mary (10-18 SU, 8-16-2 ATS, 5-10 CAA) remains up north to meet Northeastern (9-17 SU, 10-16 ATS, 5-10 CAA) on Saturday afternoon at noon in Boston. Both teams are tied for eighth place in the CAA.

These teams have not met since Jan. 5 when the Tribe edged the Huskies 69-66 as a 2.0-point dog at home.

William & Mary has not had a lot of good wins this season, but beating Towson at home as a 10.5-point dog on Monday night 68-66 was it. However, they couldn't use the momentum in their next game, falling 71-66 in overtime at Stony Brook as a 4-point dog. The Tribe were down most of the game, overcoming a seven-point deficit with a little over a minute left. But in the overtime, William & Mary committed three turnovers and shot just 2-of-7 from the field in overtime. Ben Wight led the Tribe with 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting, while Anderson Nelson chipped in with 18 points (4-of-6 3pt).

“I was really proud of the way we battled, especially down the stretch to force overtime,” Tribe coach Dane Fischer said to wydaily.com. “We just couldn’t quite get enough done in overtime.

“It was a lot of effort just to give ourselves a chance, but mentally and emot ionally we were in a good place. We just didn’t execute like we needed to.”

William & Mary played this one (and Towson) shorthanded. Starter Noah Collier, the team's top rebounder, and Gabe Dorsey (44.4% 3pt) have missed the last three games due to injuries. Injuries or no injuries, this has been a tough season for the Tribe. The Towson win is their only victory in February as they have just two wins in their last 10 games. In overall stats, defense is their biggest problem as they rank 12th out of 13 teams in the CAA in field goal defense (46.2%) and 6th in three-point defense (34.2%). They do shoot the ball from three-point land extremely well (37.1%), ranking second in the league. They also struggle with turnovers, ranking 11th in turnover margin (-1.14).

Nelson leads the Tribe in scoring with 11.6 points and 4.5 assists on 48.1% shooting (47% 3pt). Wight adds 10.7 points and 5.0 rebounds on 52.2% shooting.
