The Vancouver Canucks face the Detroit Red Wings with both teams looking to improve on rough seasons. The Canucks have a 21-27-4 record and are near the bottom of the Pacific Division while the Red Wings have a 22-20-8 record and are near the bottom of the Atlantic Division. Both teams are looking to improve in their divisions and the upcoming game should be a good one as a result.

The Canucks are having a rough season despite their offense stepping up and scoring 3.37 goals per game. Elias Pettersson, Andrei Kuzmenko, and J.T. Miller have scored 64 goals and 90 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has also been great. Brock Boeser, Conor Garland, and Dakota Joshua have combined for 28 goals and 47 assists while defenseman Quinn Hughes has added five goals and 44 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has been awful, allowing 3.96 goals per game with 14 goals in the last three games. Quinn Hughes and Luke Schenn have combined for 4.6 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has been awful, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. Additionally, goaltender Spencer Martin has struggled with a .873 save percentage and a 3.95 goals-against average on 805 shots with -26.2 goals s aved above average.
