The Valparaiso Beacons and Drake Bulldogs face off on Thursday in a college basketball showdown at the Knapp Center. When these two teams faced off in February it was Drake that secured 71-65 victory.
Valparaiso comes into this game with a 6-7 record overall and they have gone 2-10 against the spread. In the last game against Stonehill it was a little closer than they had hoped, but they were able to secure the 77-67 victory. Two games ago against Elon they were able to secure the 71-66 victory. The Beacons are averaging 70.2 points while their defense is giving up 74.2 points per game. Ben Krikke has been the top player for Valparaiso averaging 18.3 points while shooting 52.9 percent from the field and 20.7 percent from behind the three point line.
On the other side of this matchup is Drake who sits with a 10-3 record overall and they have gone 4-7-1 against the spread. In the last game against St. Ambrose, the offense scored 124 points and they won in blowout fashion. Two games ago against Mississippi State, they were able to secure a 58-52 victory. Drake is averaging 75.8 points while their defense is giving up 65 points per game. Tucker DeDrives is averaging 18.7 points while shooting 49.1 percent from the field. In this game if the defense is good, Drake will be in good shape to come away with a victory here.
