A non-conference matchup in the South tips off Tuesday night when the UAB Blazers (2-2, 2-2 ATS) travel to take on the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (3-1, 2-1 ATS). UAB is coming off a home win over Alcorn State 80-77, but the game was much closer than expected as UAB was favored by 16.5. Middle Tennessee St. played a lower division school in Milligan, their last Division I matchup was a loss to Western Carolina 66-64 as 4.5-home favorites. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 EST from the Murphy Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

The UAB Blazers have been inconsistent to start the season. They lost as a favorite in their opener against Bradley, defeated Maryland as an underdog, and barely beat an Alcorn State team that they were supposed to crush. Against Alcorn State, the Blazers were losing with just two minutes to go, but were able to pull out the win late. Efram Johnson buried a three with the game tied late that carried the team to victory. UAB got a huge game from guard Alejandro Vasquez with 25 points in the close win.

Eric Gaines leads the Blazers in scoring at 17.2 PPG as a 6'2 junior guard. Gaines was a starter for last year's team, and has scored 15 or more in every game this season. Alejandro Vazquez is coming off the huge game against Alcorn State, he averages 13.0 PPG as a 6'4 junior, Vazquez transferred in from St. Bonaventure this season. Efram Johnson is the top shooter on the team, his game clin ching three against Alcorn can be seen above. He has seven made threes on the season to lead the team and is averaging 10.8 PPG. Javian Davis is their best post presence, the 6'9 265-pound senior averages 9.0 PPG and 9.3 RPG.

UAB is currently ranked 95th overall in KenPom. Their offense is ranked 117th in efficiency and their defense is slightly better ranking 88th in efficiency. The Blazers play fast, their tempo ranks 34th in the nation out of 362 Division I teams.
