Tuley: Wednesday Best Bets in MLB 6/7

Tuesday Best Bet Results

Tuesday was relatively quiet with no NBA or NHL playoff games (well, except for the big news of the PGA/LIV merger) and we used it to get a jump on our handicapping for the Belmont on Saturday. Note: we’ll be posting Team Tuley’s advance plays on Thursday.

As for Tuesday’s bets, we went 0-1-1. Our top play on the Astros First 5 Innings +115 at the Blue Jays looked good early as the Astros jumped out to a 1-0 lead, but the Jays rallied to lead 3-1 after the first 5 innings.

We fell behind 2-0 with our second play on the Orioles First 5 -105 at the Brewers, but at least they rallied to tie it 2-2 for the push.

The losing day dropped our Best Bet record in June to 6-7-1, though we’re still only down $52.27 thanks to the plus-money on some of our underdog winners, according to the VSiN Pro Picks page after going 41-28-8 (59.4%) in the month of May for a profit of 15.6 units..

Let’s look for plays on Wednesday, though we’re passing on Game 3 of the NBA Finals. The Nuggets are 2.5-point road favorites at the Heat and I’m not willing to take the dog as I feel the line is too short (and not willing to fade the Nuggets, who are in the zig-zag role after losing Game 2). We feel we’ve been having such a good spring because we’ve been selective and not just betting every day, but picking our spots when we feel we’re getting enough value. Note: I’m also not planning to take the underdog Golden Knights in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Thursday with the Panthers returning home in the zig-zag role.

MLB Wednesday Best Bets

A’s First 5 Innings +140 at Pirates: This is an “anti-swagger” play against the Pirates as they had their 6-game winning streak snapped by the A’s in an 11-2 rout on Tuesday night. As much as we love underdogs, we’ve done a good job of passing on the A’s on most nights this season, but this is a spot we’re willing to take them, especially as they’re also a “mini-swagger” play themselves as they snapped a 5-game losing streak with their win. They were the 2nd-biggest dog so far this season at +240 and should also have a lot of confidence with their easy win. While there are some Pittsburgh pitchers I like, I’m not afraid to fade Roansy Contreras (3-4, 4.82 ERA).

Mariners First 5 Innings +100 at Padres: The Mariners as a “mini-swagger’ play after snapping a 3-game losing streak on Tuesday. We’ll also take George Kirby (5-4, 3.04 ERA) vs. Michael Wacha (5-2, 3.48 ERA).
