St. Louis Cardinals vs. Colorado Rockies Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-9-2022

The St. Louis Cardinals hit the road and head west to Colorado to take on the Rockies in a three-game series starting Tuesday night. The Cardinals come into the series riding high after sweeping the Yankees over the weekend and moving two-games in front of the Brewers in first-place in the NL Central Division. The Rockies lost two of three over the weekend to the Diamondbacks and are now alone in last place in the NL West Division. The pitching matchup on Tuesday night will feature right-hander Miles Mikolas (8-8, 2.92) of the Cardinals taking on fellow righty Ryan Feltner (1-3, 5.75) of the Rockies. First pitch is scheduled for 840pm EST.

The St. Louis Cardinals early returns on the team's trade deadline deals are looking very good. The Cardinals picked up two starters over the deadline to improve the team's rotation and each pitcher, Jose Quintana and Jordan Montgomery, picked up a win as part of the team's current seven-game winning streak. The Cardinals are now 9-1 in their last ten games and moved past the Brewers into sole possession of first-place in the NL Central Division. On Sunday, the Cardinals out-slugged the Bronx Bombers to pull out a 12-9 win to complete a three-game sweep. Nolan Arenado and Paul DeJong both homered and drove in four runs as the Cardinals moved a season-high 12 games over .500.

“Anytime you can cap off a sweep of a great team like the Yankees, it's huge,” Arenado said. “We beat a team that's playing great ball, too. Where we're trying to go, you've got to win series. It's just great to see us playing good baseball, playing hard.”

The Cardinals bats have come alive during this recent hot streak. The team is hitting .263 in the last ten games, averaging 5.7 runs per contest. The Cardinals have also blasted 17 home runs during this stretch. Leading the way is Arenado. Arenado is batting .314 over the last ten games with four home runs and nine RBI. He is slugging .714 with an OPS of 1.143 over this span. On the mound to try and keep the streak going on Tuesday will be Miles Mikolas. Mikolas leads the Cards in a bounty of categories including quality starts, innings, WAR, WHIP and ERA. Mikolas is 3-3 in his last seven starts but has yet to face the Rockies this season.
