San Francisco Giants vs. Cincinnati Reds Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 7-17-2023

The San Francisco Giants (52-41, 49-44 RL, 42-48-4 O/U) battle the Cincinnati Reds (50-44, 59-35 RL, 53-41 O/U) in the opening bout of a three-game series on Monday night. The Giants will send Logan Webb to the rubber. The Reds will reply with Brandon Williamson. The Reds went 4-2 against the Giants last season.

The Giants will have Logan Webb on the mound on Monday night. Webb came through with a gem last time out, recording the complete game shutout against the Rockies, and collected the win. The veteran had a shaky June but has only conceded two runs in 15.2 innings this month and is sporting a 3.14 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP accompanied by a 8-7 record in 126 innings pitched on the season. Webb has been outstanding in limiting action against the Reds, conceding one run (zero earned) with a 2-0 record in 13 innings. 

San Francisco continues to shine. They have won back-to-back series after beating the Rockies followed by a dominating three-game road sweep against the Pirates this past weekend. They scored 17 runs in the series. The Giants are only two games out of first in the division and stand in a wildcard spot. They are 6-4 in their last ten decisions. 

Lamonte Wade Jr. has cooled down this month, recording one RBI and a .661 OPS. The 29-year-old first baseman is having a solid year, collecting 28 RBIs, and leads the squad with a marvelous .849 OPS. Thairio Estrada is out until next month which is a devastating loss to the offense.

The Giants are posting an average of 4.65 runs, good for 10th. The pitching staff has issued a 3.86 team ERA, placing them ninth.
