The Providence Friars and Butler Bulldogs face off on Thursday in a college basketball showdown at Hinkie Fieldhouse. When these two teams faced off in March it was Providence that secured the 65-61 victory.

Providence comes into this game with a 10-3 record overall and they have gone 7-6 against the spread. In the last game against Marquette, they scored 103 points and that was enough to win by five points. Providence is averaging 81.3 points while their defense is giving up 69.6 points per game. The offense is ranked 31st and they will no doubt try to push the pace again in this game. Bryce Hopkins has been the top player for Providence averaging 16.7 points while shooting 50 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from behind the three point line

On the other side of this matchup is Butler who sits with an 8-5 record and they have gone 7-5-1 against the spread. In the last game against Creighton, Butler only scored 56 points and that led to the 22 point victory. Two games ago against UConn the offense only scored 46 points and they need to find a way to get the offense going here or this could be a long game. Butler is averaging 71.3 points while their defense is giving up 64.8 points per game. Guard Chuck Harris is averaging 14.2 points while shooting 45.8 percent from the field and 34.5 percent from behind the three point line.
