The New Mexico Lobos have breezed through their first 13 games of the season with an unblemished record. They opened Mountain West play with an 88-69 win over Colorado State at The Pit on Wednesday night. This is just the second time in school history that the Lobos have started 13-0 and the first since 1967-68. Jaelen House led the way with a season-high 26 points, including five-of-six from long range. House also had five assists and three steals in the win. Jamal Mashburn Jr. had 19 points and Morris Udeze added a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds.

“It was just an amazing crowd. I can’t say it enough. To get 15,000, during the holidays, on a weeknight, it is just amazing. We have one of the best fan bases in all of college basketball. Our guys did a great job of locking in on the offensive scouting report. That’s why we took so many threes, because they were going to pack the paint. We were able to knock down a bunch in the first half. Jaelen was phenomenal on (Isaiah) Stevens. He was just unbelievably disruptive. I thought overall it was a terrific game. It is the first time since 1967-68 that we have started 13-0 and our guys should be applauded for that.” Head coach Richard Pitino said about the win.

New Mexico has been one of the best scoring teams in the country thus far, ranking 8th in scoring. They are excellent from long range, ranking 51st in 3pt shooting. The Lobos play fast but are able to protect the basketball, ranked 70th in turnovers and 36th in assist-to-turnovers. New Mexico is ranked 33rd in rebounding and 100th in steals this season. New Mexico is ranked 138th in scoring defense this season and are ranked 106th in 3pt defense.
