The New Jersey Devils face the Ottawa Senators with both teams on opposite ends of the standings to start the season. The Devils have a 14-3 record and with 11 wins in a row, have the best record in the Metropolitan Division. The Senators have a 6-9-1 record and with only two wins in the last 10 games, have the worst record in the Atlantic Division. The Devils are looking to remain near the top of the Eastern Conference while the Senators are looking to climb out of last place in the division and the upcoming game should be a good one as a result.

The Devils are having a great season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.71 goals per game including 16 goals in the last four games. Jesper Bratt, Jack Hughes, and Nico Hischier have scored 23 goals and 36 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has been great as well. Tomas Tatar, Miles Wood, and Dawson Mercer have combined for 13 goals and 15 assists while defensemen Dougie Hamilton and John Marino have added seven goals and 15 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has looked great but the defense has also stepped up, allowing only 2.41 goals per game. Jonas Seigenthaler and Ryan Graves have combined for 3.2 defensive point shares and 45 blocked shots while John Marino and Dougie Hamilton have combined for 2.6 defensive point shares to give the Devils two great defensive pairings. In addition, goaltender Vitek Vanecek is having a strong sea son in the net with a .916 save percentage and a 2.15 goals-against average on 251 shots.
