Miami Marlins vs. Philadelphia Phillies Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 4-12-2023

The Miami Marlins (4-7, 3-8 RL, 5-4-2 O/U) collide with the Philadelphia Phillies (4-6, 4-6 RL, 5-5 O/U) as the NL East rivals conclude a three-game series on Wednesday afternoon. The Marlins will have Edward Cabrera on the hill. The Phillies reply with Zack Wheeler. The Phillies collected a dominating 15-3 win on Monday.

Edward Cabrera will take the mound for the third time of the season. Cabrera has not looked good in his two outings. He battled the Mets in his season debut, allowed two runs, and walked six in four innings in a game the Fish lost. Next, he pitched against the Mets again and had more issues with his command, this time walking a remarkable seven batters and allowing two runs in 2.2 innings, resulting in the loss. The young right-hander has the potential to be an ace. He had an outstanding 2022 season, recording a sharp 3.01 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP in 71.2 innings. Cabrera has shut down the Phillies in two career meetings spanning 11 innings, limiting them to two runs with a 1-1 record.

Miami hopes to improve on last year’s win total as the young core gains valuable experience. It’s been a daunting schedule as they have already played the Met s seven times and the Twins three. The Marlins won the series against Minnesota and lost two of three to the Mets last weekend. They stand at 1-3 on the road trek entering Tuesday night.

Garret Cooper is enjoying a marvelous opening few weeks. The 32-year-old first baseman has delivered three home runs, eight RBIs, and a dazzling 1.09 OPS. Cooper drove in three runs along with .756 OPS in 56 at-bats against the Phillies last season and went 3 for 4 with one RBI on Monday.

Miami is only averaging 2.73 runs per game, pegging them 29th. The pitching staff has posted a 5.50 team ERA, placing them 28th.
