Los Angeles Angels vs. Detroit Tigers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 7-25-2023

The Los Angeles Angels (51-49, 47-53 RL, 50-45-5 O/U) collide with the Detroit Tigers (46-54, 53-47 RL, 51-45-4 O/U) in an AL battle on Tuesday evening. The Angels will send Griffin Canning to the hill. The Tigers will give the nod to Eduardo Rodriguez. The Angels posted a 3-3 record against the Tigers last season.

The Angels will have Griffin Canning take the mound on Tuesday. Canning was stellar in his previous start, limiting the Yankees to only two runs in 5.2 innings, resulting in a no-decision in a bout the Angels won in extra innings. The young right-hander is capable of shutting down opponents but is inconsistent. He has recorded a subpar 4.52 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP accompanied by a 6-4 record in 79.2 innings. Canning has silenced the Tigers, conceding only two runs with a 2-0 record in 11.1 career innings.

The Halos are an interesting squad to keep an eye on for the remainder of July. Ohtani will only be traded if they have dipped out of contention in the AL Wildcard. They stand only four games out entering Monday. The Angels swept the Yankees last week and followed by winning two of three home meetings against the Pirates to improve to 6-4 in their last ten bouts.

Shohei Ohtani has a good chance to break the AL home run record established by Judge last season. The 29-year-old star has 36 homers with 77 RBIs and a ridiculous 1.07 OPS. Ohtani was stellar against the Tigers last season, bashing three homers with four RBIs and a 1.106 OPS. He has five homers and nine RBIs this month.

Los Angeles is averaging 5.00 runs per game, ranking them sixth. The pitching staff is carrying a 4.47 team ERA, positioning them 21st.
