Houston at Temple Prediction – Basketball Picks 2/5/23

The Houston Cougars will make the trip to Philly to meet the Temple Owls in AAC play from the Liacouras Center on ESPN2. Houston leads the all-time series, 12-4, but Temple did stun the Cougs at home two weeks ago.

Houston improved to 21-2 following a road win over Wichita State. The Cougars found themselves in another slugfest with the Shockers in Kansas, but they pulled away in the second half to pick up the nine-point victory. Houston is scoring 75.2 points per game, while allowing 55.2 ppg, and shooting 47.1% from the field.

Houston picked up their third win in a row, and they’ll look to take down the last team to defeat them here. The Cougs shot poorly in a brawl with the Owls two weeks ago, and after losing by just one point, they should be dialed in here. The Cougars are 9-1 in AAC play, with a 7-0 record on the road this season. Senior guard Marcus Sasser has been quiet since the loss to Temple, but he’s still the team’s top scorer at 11.3 ppg. Freshman forward Jarace Walker has scored 15 points or more in five of seven games in 2023, and he’s second on the team in scoring (11.3) and rebounding (6.4). Veteran point guard Jamal Shead double-doubled against UCF, and he’s averaging 9.3 ppg and a team-lead 5.3 apg. Third-year Cougs Tramon Mark (9.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg) and J’Wan Roberts (9.9 ppg, 7.0 rpg) round out the starting five.
