Golden State Warriors vs. Washington Wizards Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 1-16-2023

Once Upon A Time In Las Vegas – Wildcard Edition

The Washington Wizards (18-25) will host the defending world champion Golden State Warriors (21-22) in an early game on Martin Luther King Jr Day. These teams have yet to meet this season, but last season they split the two head-to-head matches, with the home team prevailing straight up and against the spread each time.

The defending champs have been far from dominant halfway through the season. The Dubs are 19-22-1 against the spread and have a horrific 4-16 straight-up record on the road. Currently, the Warriors are eighth in the Western Conference and only half a game ahead of the Trail Blazers, who are in the 11th spot. Golden State will play on a quick turnaround Monday after losing at Chicago 132-118 to the Bulls on Sunday.

The Warriors have lost four of their last five games, including two out of three since Stephen Curry returned from injury. Curry leads the team with 29.2 ppg on the season but just 19.7 ppg over his last three. Keep an eye on the status for Monday of Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, and Draymond Green, who all played significant minutes in Sunday's loss.  Thompson led the charge with 26 points, draining 8 of 15 attempts from three point range.
