Fresno State Bulldogs (1-1) vs. USC Trojans (2-0)

The college football betting action goes on Saturday, September 17, with Week 3 matchups around the country, including the interconference showdown from Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Fresno State takes on USC for the first time since 2019 when the Trojans outlasted the Bulldogs 31-23 as 14-point home favorites.

USC is a 12.5-point home fave this time around. Fresno State is listed as a +385 moneyline underdog, and the totals sit at 73.5 points.

After beating the Cal Poly Mustangs 35-7 as 42.5-point home favorites in Week 1, the Fresno State Bulldogs fell to 1-1 straight up and 0-2 ATS on the season following a 35-32 home loss to the Oregon State Beavers in Week 2. Playing as slim 1-point home favorites, the Bulldogs blew a nine-point second-half lead, allowing the Beavers to score a two-yard TD on the final play of the game.

“Well, we lost the game, that’s the bottom line,” Fresno State head coach Jeff Tedford said. “A lot of back and forth, the guys fought and battled. That’s a good football team over there. We answered, they answered, we couldn’t make stops when we needed to and couldn’t convert in the red zone with field goals. We missed a couple of field goa ls and an extra point. We came out on the short end.”

Both Fresno State and Oregon State took good care of the ball. The Bulldogs outgained the Beavers 492-397 in total yards, but it wasn’t enough. Senior QB Jake Haener completed 29 of his 45 passing attempts for 360 yards and a TD. Fellow senior Jordan Mims posted 21 carries for 122 yards and a couple of scores, while senior wideout Nikko Remigio had six catches for 100 yards.

Haener and Mims will continue to lead the way for the Bulldogs. Last year, Mims accounted for 1,034 yards from scrimmage and ten touchdowns, while Haener tossed for 4,096 yards, 33 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
