The FIU Panthers and Charlotte 49ers face off on Saturday in a college football showdown at Jerry Richardson Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2021 it was Charlotte that secured the 45-33 victory. This is a big game for both teams who have been disappointing this season.
FIU comes into this game with a 2-4 record overall and they are coming off another loss in their last game. FIU only managed 10 points against UTSA and they were defeated by 20 points. Under center for FIU is Grayson James and he completed 18 of his 36 passes for 174 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. FIU is averaging 15.5 points while their defense is giving up 36.8 points per game. The offense is going to need to run up the score here and put pressure on the 49ers defense.
On the other side of this matchup is the Charlotte 49ers who sit with a 1-6 record overall and in the last game against UAB they were defeated 34-20. Charlotte was outscored 15-6 in the 4th quarter, and that was the nail in the coffin. Under center for the 49ers is Chris Reynolds and he completed 15 of his 26 passes for 214 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Charlotte is averaging 25 points per game while their defense is giving up 44.6 points per game. The offense hasn’t been great, but even worse has been the defense.
