Northwestern at Maryland – 10/22/22 College Football Picks and Prediction

The Northwestern Wildcats and Maryland Terrapins face off on Saturday in a college football showdown at Byrd Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2020 it was Northwestern that secured the 43-3 victory.

Maryland comes into this game with a 5-2 record overall and they picked up a victory in the last game against the Indiana Hoosiers. The offense scored 38 points, and they secured the five-point victory. Taulia Tagovailoa completed 25 of his 39 passes for 270 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He did hurt his knee in the last game though and he is a game-time decision for this game. If he can’t go it will be Billy Edwards Jr that is going to get the start. Maryland is averaging 35.7 points while their defense is giving up 24.1 points per game.

On the other side of this matchup is Northwestern who sit with a 1-5 record overall and their only win came in the first game of the series against Nebraska. In the last game against Wisconsin, the offense only scored seven points, and that led to the 35 point defeat. Brendan Sullivan and Ryan Hilinski both played plenty of snaps in the last game and it’s unclear who will play here. Hilinski suffered a concussion in the last game, and it’s unclear if he’s going to be able to go in this game. Northwestern is averaging 17.7 points while their defense is giving up 27.7 points per game.
