It’s an ACC matchup as a pair of teams take the floor in search of a victory in the Empire State. The Duke Blue Devils are on the road as they make the trip to take on the Syracuse Orange Saturday evening. Duke scratched out a 68-64 home win over Notre Dame Tuesday night in their previous contest, failing to cover the line as a 12-point underdog. Syracuse earned a hard-fought 75-72 win over #23 NC State at home Tuesday night, covering the line as a one-point favorite, in their previous game. In the all-time series between the teams, the Blue Devils own a 14-6 advantage and have won the last seven meetings. That includes an 88-79 win in the last meeting, which came in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament on March 10, 2022.

Duke snapped a two-game skid as they managed to take down a struggling Notre Dame at home though they failed to cover the line in the contest. The Blue Devils ran their record to 18-8 overall and stand tied for sixth in the ACC with a 9-6 conference record on the season. Against Notre Dame, Duke used a 13-6 run over the final nine-plus minutes of the opening half to take a 31-23 lead at intermission. The Blue Devils led by as many as 14 in the second half but never put Notre Dame away as the Fighting Irish got with one with 36 seconds to play. Mark Mitchell hit a three-pointer with 10 seconds remaining to give Duke a four-point lead and Tyrese Proctor hit a pair of free throws with two seconds to play to secure the win. Duke shot 43.1% from the floor, including five of 20 from three-point range, and hit 13 of 15 free throws in the contest. Kyle Filipowski finished with 22 points and six rebounds to lead the Blue Devils in the win: he was th e lone player in double figures.

The Blue Devils enter this contest 184th in the nation in scoring offense with 71.4 points per game this season. Duke is 12th in rebounding with 39.5 boards a night and stand 91st in assists with 14.5 assists per game. The Blue Devils are 40th in the country in scoring defense by allowing 64.3 points per game. Mark Mitchell is fourth on the team in scoring on the year as he puts up 8.5 points a game. Jeremy Roach (12.5 points, three assists), Kyle Filipowski (15.1 points, 9.1 rebounds) and Ryan Young (7.8 points, 6.4 boards) each are good secondary options this season. Jacob Grandison, Jaylen Blakes, Dereck Lively II, Jaden Schutt, Tyrese Proctor, Kale Catchings, Christian Reeves and Max Johns all are important role players for coach Jon Scheyer this season. Duke is shooting 43.7% from the field as a team this season. The Blue Devils are knocking down 6.7 triples a night despite shooting 32.4% from beyond the arc on the year. Duke is excellent at the free throw line, cashing in a stellar 76.6% of their attempts on the year, putting them 19th in the nation.
