Dartmouth vs. Duke Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 11-6-2023

The Ivy League invades the ACC as the Dartmouth Big Green travel to North Carolina to take on the Duke Blue Devils on Monday night. The Big Green went just 10-18 last season including 6-8 in league play. The Blue Devils went 27-9 under first-year head coach Jon Scheyer, won the ACC Tournament but were knocked out in the second round of the tournament. The opening tap on Monday is scheduled for 9:00 PM EST.

Dartmouth heads right for the lion's den on opening night as they try to fend off the Duke Blue Devils and the Cameron Crazies in game one of the season. Head coach Dave McLoughlin and his team certainly have some goals to check off their list this season but it is highly unlikely that one of them is to beat Duke at Cameron Indoor Arena. For each of the last two seasons, the Big Green have missed the Ivy League Tournament by one game, finishing fifth in each season. This season, the Big Green returns three starters from that team including two double-digit scorers in Ryan Cornish and Dusan Neskovic. Neskovic, in particular, will give Dartmouth a legitimate threat from long-range after shooting over 40% from there last season.

“They're shot-makers”, McLoughlin said about his two leading returning scorers. “They can get to the foul line. They can shoot in various scenarios.”

Dartmouth finished last season with an average margin of -5.5. The Big Green were also just 328th in the country in turnovers and were not particularly strong at forcing turnovers, ranking just 324th in the country in steals. Don't expect Dartmouth to wow the Blue Devils with scoring after finishing 2022-23 as the 291st ranked team in the country in points per game. They will play slow, defend on the perimeter and try to compete on the glass against the bigger Blue Devils.
