Colorado Rockies vs. Washington Nationals Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 7-26-2023

The National League's two worst teams will complete a three-game set on Wednesday afternoon. Through the first five battles, the Colorado Rockies (40-60) were ahead 3-2 and 58 total runs had been scored. The Washington Nationals (41-59) will have a shot to even things up on Tuesday night before hosting this series finale. Wednesday's first pitch is set for 12:05 p.m. EDT in Nationals Park. Here's what's in store from the nation's capital.

There has not been a worse team in the Senior Circuit throughout 2023. It begins with a pitching staff that's the NL's worst, and not only because of their home field. Colorado's pitching plan in this game will be spearheaded by Peter Lambert, making only his third start of the season. Primary as a reliever, Lambert has a 5.49 ERA, 5.57 FIP, and 1.525 WHIP in 39.1 innings pitched. He hasn't allowed a run in his 8.0 innings as a starter. Let's see if the run will continue.

Offensively, the Rockies haven't been much better this season. They're 20th in runs per game scoring under 4.5 on an average night. Colorado's lineup is 26th in walk rate and 25th in strikeout rate. The Rockies also have the fewest stolen bases league-wide and a bottom-10 home run total. Their middling batting average and slugging percentage aren't particularly noteworthy because the rest of the offense is poor. Ev en with a generous home field.
