Chicago White Sox vs. New York Mets Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 7-19-2023

The Chicago White Sox (40-55, 47-48 RL, 42-47-6 O/U) battle the New York Mets (43-50, 37-56, 37-49-7 O/U) in the second of a three-game series on Wednesday evening. The White Sox will give the starting nod to Touki Toussaint. The Mets will reply with Justin Verlander. This is the first meeting since the 2019 season.

The White Sox will have Touki Toussaint on the mound on Wednesday. Toussaint has looked good in back-to-back outings. He limited the potent Braves to only one run in 5.1 innings last Friday, resulting in a no-decision in a game the White Sox lost. The veteran right-hander was acquired from the Guardians last month and has respectable numbers, posting a 3.38 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP accompanied by a 0-2 record in 24 innings pitched on the season. Toussaint has excelled against the Mets, recording a stellar 2.89 ERA and a 1-0 record in 18.2 innings.

Chicago struggled before the break but was able to collect a big series win in Atlanta on the weekend after a dominating 8-1 win on Sunday. It marked their first series win of the month. It’s been a disappointing season and they are probably going to be sellers. The White Sox are 4-6 in their last ten gam es and are eight games out of first in the AL Central.

Luis Robert Jr. continues to dazzle, knocking in 10 runs with a dazzling .968 OPS on the month. The 25-year-old slugger is one of the more exciting players in the game. He has delivered 26 bombs along with 56 RBIs and a stellar .908 OPS on the season. Yoan Moncada remains on the IL.

Chicago is scoring an average of 4.17 runs on the year, landing them 26th. The pitching staff has issued a 4.57 team ERA, placing them 24th.
