Chicago Blackhawks (2-2-0) vs. Colorado Avalanche (3-0-0)

The NHL betting action goes on with a loaded 12-game Thursday card, including the Central Division showdown at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, so here’s the best Blackhawks vs. Avalanche betting pick along with the latest odds update.

Chicago and Colorado open a four-game regular-season series. The Avalanche are listed as massive -330 moneyline favorites, while the total sits at 6.5 goals and is juiced to the under.

The Chicago Blackhawks start their 2023-24 campaign with a tough five-game road trip. After a 4-2 victory at the Pittsburgh Penguins and a pair of losses at the Boston Bruins 3-1 and Montreal Canadians 3-2, the Blackhawks stunned the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-1 this past Monday.

Playing as huge +275 underdogs, the Blackhawks fully deserved to win at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. They were outshot 36-31, but the Blackhawks battled bravely and logged 15 hits more than their rivals (42-27). Four guys found the back of the net, Andreas Athanasiou had a pair of dishes, and Arvid Soderblom posted 35 saves on the night.

“Fun game to play,” Soderblom said. “Great team game. The boys made it easy for me. I had to step up there in the end with a couple of big saves, but overall, we made a huge effort.”

Soderblom is now 1-1-0 with a 1.51 GAA and a .955 save percentage on the young season, while Petr Mrazek is 1-1-0 with a 2.54 GAA and a .935 save percentage. Mrazek is expected to guard the cage against the Avalanche, and the 31-year-old netminder is 4-1-2 with a sparkling 1.69 GAA and a .941 save percentage in eight career appearances versus Colorado.
