Charleston vs. Towson Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 12-31-2022

Towson has hit the skids as of late and in their first Colonial Athletic Association game they host a white-hot Charleston team.

Charleston comes into this game riding a 12-game winning streak and they won in a blowout in their last game in their CAA opener. They have won three of their last four games, including their last two, in blowout fashion and their lone loss on the season was on the road against North Carolina, who was the top-ranked team in the nation.

After winning eight of their first nine games of the season Towson has hit the skids losing their last four games. They are 8-5 heading into this CAA opener and last season they won both of their games facing Charleston.

Charleston had no problem in their conference opener in their last game where they were at home and laid an 89-61 beat down on Hampton. They had a 20-point lead at the half and for the game they shot 47.7% from the floor and held the Pirates to 36.2% shooting. Six players for the Cougars scored in double figures led by reserve Pat Robinson III with 19 points and Ante Brzovic had 15 points.

The Cougars covered the spread as a 21-point favorite and they have covered in their last two games.

Charleston has had solid balance on the season, as they are averaging 80.2 ppg and giving up an average of 70.9 ppg. They have four players that are averaging in double figures led by Dalton Bolon, who had 11 points in 20 minutes in the last game and in the previous three games averaged 18.7 ppg. Reyne Smith (11.4 ppg) also p layed just 20 minutes in the last game going for 10 points and he scored 23 points in the previous game. Ryan Larson (11.2 ppg) had 11 points in the win over Hampton and he had failed to score over seven points in two of the previous three games. On the season Charleston is 3-1 on the road.
