Buffalo Sabres vs. N.Y. Islanders  Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 3-7-2023

Three defeats in their last four outings bring the Buffalo Sabres (4th in Atlantic Division) to the second contest of their current back-to-back stretch, as the New York Islanders (4th in Metropolitan) are set to play host on the back of a three-game point run with two victories.

The Buffalo Sabres (32-26-4) were beaten for the third time in their last four fixtures (1-3-0) after being edged out with a count of 3-2 by the Edmonton Oilers at KeyBank Center last night. Jeff Skinner (27 goals, 63 points this year) and Dylan Cozens (24 goals, 54 points) both found the back of the net for the Sabres, who tied the game twice throughout the contest before the Oilers banked the winning snipe at 3:23 of the third period. Despite a negative recent run, Buffalo has still triumphed in six of its previous 10 matchups (6-4-0), currently trailing the Pittsburgh Penguins by three points for the 2nd Wild Card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference.

The Sabres are 3rd in most goals scored per game this year (3.71), 8th in most goals conceded on average (3.55), 3rd best in power play (25.4%) and 2nd from the bottom in penalty kill (72.6%).
