A pair of Central Division teams take the ice in search of a victory down in the Valley of the Sun. The Dallas Stars are on the road as they make the trip to face the Arizona Coyotes on the campus of Arizona State Thursday night. Dallas comes in on the heels of a 5-2 home victory over the Kings Tuesday night in their previous contest. Arizona earned a 3-1 home victory over Florida in their last game. In the process, they recorded their first victory at Mullett Arena as well. Over the last 10 meetings, the Stars own a 7-2-1 record though the Coyotes have won the last two meetings, including a 4-3 overtime road win on April 27, 2022.

Dallas had dropped three of their previous four games but came up with the victory at home over the Kings Tuesday night to get back on track, at least temporarily. The Stars entered Wednesday 6-3-1 on the season, putting them atop the standings in the Central Division by two points over Winnipeg and Minnesota. Dallas stands 12th in the league in goals per game as they average 3.30 goals per contest on the year. The Stars stand 2nd in the league in goals against as they allow an average of 2.30 goals a night this season. Dallas is tied for 7th when it comes to success on the power play as they convert on 26.5% of their chances with the man advantage this season. The Stars are 5th in penalty killing as they successfully navigate 84.4% of their shorthanded situations on the year.

Against Los Angeles, Dallas broke open a close contest by exploding in the middl e stanza en route to the victory. The Stars held an 18-8 advantage in shots on goal and skated off with a 1-0 lead on the scoreboard after 20 minutes of play. Roope Hintz opened the scoring with his fourth goal of the season, on the power play, at 6:49 off assists from Jamie Benn and Jason Robertson. In the second period, Dallas was outshot 14-10 but outscored the Kings 4-2 to take a 5-2 lead to the second intermission. After giving up the tying goal in the period, Robertson gave the Stars a 2-1 lead with his fifth of the season, on the power play, at 9:01 off assists from Miro Heiskanen and Hintz. Only 1:16 later, at 10:17, Tyler Seguin made it 3-1 with his third of the season at 10:17 with Denis Gurianov and Heiskanen drawing the assists. Just 14 seconds after that, at 10:31, Hintz tallied his second of the game and fifth of the year, unassisted, for a 4-1 lead. After the Kings made it a two-goal game, Joe Pavelski made it 5-2 with his fifth goal of the year, on the power play, at 18:37 with Benn and Robertson drawing the assists. Dallas held a 12-10 edge in shots on goal in the third period with neither side lighting the lamp, sending them to the victory. Scott Wedgewood made 30 saves for the Stars, who held a 40-32 advantage in shots on goal, in the victory. With Jake Oettinger sidelined for the moment, Wedgewood is expected to get the start in goal again here.
