The Carolina Hurricanes are on the road as they travel to face the Seattle Kraken Thursday night. Carolina comes in off a 6-3 road win over San Jose Tuesday night in their previous contest. Seattle was dropped by a 4-1 margin at home by Colorado Tuesday night in their most recent outing. The teams have met four times previously with the Hurricanes owning a 3-1 advantage. Carolina has won the last three meetings, including a 3-2 home victory in the most recent matchup on December 15, 2022.

Carolina bounced back from a loss to Anaheim as they doubled up the Sharks on the road to improve to 2-1-0 on this six-game road trip that rolls on here. The Hurricanes improve to 3-1-0 on the season and owned a two-point edge over a quartet of teams for the top spot in the Metropolitan Division standings. Carolina stands 1st in goals per game as they put up 4.75 goals per contest on the year. The Hurricanes are tied for 28th in goals against by allowing an average of 4.25 goals per night. Carolina stands 10th in power play success as they cash in on 26.1% of their chances with the man advantage on the year. The Hurricanes are 19th in the league in penalty killing as they have successfully navigated 78.9% of their shorthanded situations on the year.

Against San Jose, Carolina bounced back from a loss to Anaheim as they beached the Sharks on the road Tuesda y night. The opening period saw the Hurricanes outshoot the Sharks by an 18-5 margin but skated to the dressing room tied at one after 20 minutes of play. After falling behind 1-0, Seth Jarvis tied the game with his first goal of the season at 4:06, on the power play with assists going to Michael Bunting and Teuvo Teravainen. The second period saw Carolina with a 12-6 shot advantage only to see them outscored 2-1 to trail 3-2 after 40 minutes of play. Jaccob Slavin gave the Hurricanes a 2-1 lead with his second goal of the season, unassisted and shorthanded, at the 8:54 mark of the period. They gave up the next two goals to trail after 40 minutes. In the third period, Carolina held a 12-5 shot advantage and outscored San Jose 4-0 to earn the win. The Hurricanes tied the game on Stefan Noesen’s first goal of the season, on the power play, at 9:07 off assists from Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Brady Skjei. Jarvis gave the Hurricanes the lead with his second goal of the night and the s eason, on the power play, at 11:51 off assists from Martin Necas and Brent Burns. Necas made it a 5-3 game with his second goal of the season at 14:53 off assists from Bunting and Skjei. Brett Pesce closed the scoring with his first goal of the year just 15 seconds later, at 15:08, off assists from Kotkaniemi and Noesen. Frederik Andersen stopped one of two shots before leaving after taking a shot off the mask. Antti Raanta stopped 12 of 14 shots in relief to earn the win for the Hurricanes, who owned a 42-16 edge in shots in the contest. Andersen is expected to be between the pipes for this contest for Carolina.
