The ninth-seeded Cal State Northridge Matadors and the eighth-seeded Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners will face off on Tuesday night in the opening round of the Big West Championship Tournament in a neutral site game at the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nevada. The Matadors are a brutal 7-24 (4-16) so far this season and are on a t wo-game losing streak after an 81-55 home loss on Thursday to the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. The Roadrunners are not doing too much better with a 10-21 (6-14) right now and are riding a five-game losing streak after a 52-44 road loss against the UC Irvine Anteaters on Saturday. These programs met back on Feb. 9 with the Roadrunners picking up a 73-58 home win. The winner of this game will face off against the top-seeded UC Irvine in the quarterfinals on March 9.

The Cal State Northridge Matadors have been brutal and are coming off an 81-55 home loss against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. They did awful in the second half as they were outscored by the Rainbow Warriors 48-22. They shot the ball at a prety good level from three as they were 19-of-49 (38.8 percent) overall, 4-of-11 (36.4 percent) from three, and 22 free-throw attempts. Sophomore guard Atin Wright led the team as in 27 minutes he finished with 26 points, five rebounds, one assist, two steals, and two turnovers while dealing with foul trouble. Defensively, they did a decent job as they allowed 41.9 percent from the floor and 36.7 percent from deep here. Cal State Northridge did decently well as they finished with five steals and two blocks throughout the game after forcing eight turnovers. 

The Cal State Northridge Matadors are brutal offensively this year as they are 340th in the nation with 63.9 points per game thus far and shooting a brutal 40.3 percent from the floor and are averaging 10 assists per game. Defensively, they are giving up 69.1 points per game, which is 147th in the country. They have been doing decently well at forcing mistakes with 3.1 blocks and 6.3 steals per game thus far.
