The Philadelphia Eagles are returning to the Super Bowl, where their last appearance – a 41-33 shootout win over the Patriots in February 2018 – was nearly the highest-scoring championship game in Super Bowl history.
Almost… but not quite.
That's because the honor of highest-scoring Super Bowl belongs to the Chargers and 49ers, who combined for 75 points back in 1995. That was Super Bowl XXIX.
The 49ers won, 49-26. Steve Young won Super Bowl MVP after one of the most prolific championship performances of all time, throwing for 325 yards and six touchdowns.
