Buffalo Sabres (15-14-2) vs. Vegas Golden Knights (22-10-1)

The Buffalo Sabres wrap up a three-game road trip Monday, December 19, when they face off against the Vegas Golden Knights in the cross-conference showdown at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, with the puck drop at 10:00 PM ET.

Buffalo and Vegas lock horns for the second and final time this regular season. The Golden Knights defeated the Sabres 7-4 as -165 road favorites on November 10, and Vegas opens as a -195 home fave this time around.

After a 6-0 thrashing of the Los Angeles Kings on the home ice, the Buffalo Sabres started their three-game road trip with a 4-2 victory over the reigning NHL champions, the Colorado Avalanche. Last Saturday, the Sabres visited the Arizona Coyotes and earned a fully-deserved 5-2 victory.

Buffalo outshot Arizona 43-31 and scored four unanswered goals to erase a 2-1 second-period deficit. The Sabres went 2-for-5 with the mad advantage, and Jeff Skinner, who’s returned from a three-game suspension, led the way with a couple of goals and an assist. Tage Thompson also enjoyed a great game, finishing with a pair of dishes and his 25th goal of the season.

“We just kept battling,” Sabres coa ch Don Granato said. “I love that part of our game. That is not an easy team to play, and their goaltender was outstanding. I thought Skinner coming back in the lineup was significant, every impactful.”

The Sabres boast the highest-scoring offense in the NHL, tallying 3.97 goals per game. They also pace the league in shooting percentage (12.2%) and hold the second-best power-play percentage (36-for-120). On the other side of the ice, the Sabres rank 26th in penalty-killing percentage (72.6%) and 23rd in goals against (3.45 per game). Craig Anderson is 7-4-1 with a 2.65 GAA and .922 save percentage, while Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is 4-3-1 with a 3.63 GAA and .880 SV%.
