New York Islanders at Colorado Avalanche – 12/19/22 NHL Picks and Prediction

The New York Islanders and Colorado Avalanche face off on Monday in an NHL showdown at the Pepsi Center. When these two teams faced off on October 29th it was the Islanders that secured the 5-4 victory.

The Islanders come into this game with an 18-13-1 record overall and they have gone 9-7-1 away from home. On Saturday against the Vegas Golden Knights they scored five goals and that was enough to secure the victory. The Islanders are averaging 3.25 goals while their defense is giving up 2.81 goals per game. Brock Nelson has been the top player for the Islanders scoring 15 goals and adding 18 assists.

On the other side of this matchup is the Colorado Avalanche who sit with a 16-11-2 record and they have gone 7-5-2 at home. On Saturday against the Nashville Predators, the defense was strong giving up only a goal and that led to the 3-1 victory. Cale Makar finished with one goal and one assist. The Avs are averaging 3.03 goals per game while their defense is giving up 2.76 goals per game. After such a strong offense last year it’s been the defense that they have leaned on this season. As the season goes on they need to try and up the offensive production.  Mikko Rantanen has scored 21 goals and added 17 assists.
