Last season was yet another where we thought that Texas might be back, but once again, they had a pretty mediocre season. It started out promising, as they held tough against the Alabama Crimson Tide in an early season game, and QB Quinn Ewers looked like he could be the star that brought Texas back to the promised land in 2022.

However, Ewers would go down to injury in that game, and when he came back a few games later, didn't play with the same confidence he had. That led to just a 6-3 record in the Big-12 last year, and an 8-5 record overall. That wouldn't be nearly enough to get Texas into the Big-12 championship for a chance at the playoff. They ended up losing to Washington in the Alamo Bowl to end a disapointing 2022 season.
