The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox renew their longstanding rivalry for the first time in 2024 beginning Friday, and we're diving in with our Yankees vs. Red Sox player props based on the best MLB odds.
Somehow, it's June 14, and the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are facing off for the first time in 2024. This matchup is set for 6:30 p.m. ET from Fenway Park.
That means we're about to get a whole lot of this storied rivalry in our lives. Including this one, the AL East giants clash in a three-game series three times before the end of July.
Both teams are riding high, especially the Red Sox, after taking two of three games from the Philadelphia Phillies, who own the second-best record in MLB. The best record belongs to the Yankees at 49-22, and they're second in our World Series odds after winning four of their past five games. They boast the league's top run differential at plus-127, and it's not close (Philly is second at plus-103).
Here are our best Yankees vs. Red Sox player props and MLB picks.

Yankees vs. Red Sox expert picks
Luis Gil is emerging at warp speed, and he's fully deserving of his status as the front-runner in our MLB Rookie of the Year odds on the AL sid e. He endured a minor speed wobble against the Los Angeles Dodgers his last time out while allowing three earned runs over 5 2/3 innings. But the Dodgers and their group of mashers are a roadblock for even the very best, and Gil had given up a mere three earned runs over his previous seven outings.
But while his overall K/9 of 10.8 is impressive, a few standout performances are inflating his strikeout total (90 already), and thereby making our best sportsbooks get aggressive with the punchout line set for him. Gil racked up 14 strikeouts against the woeful Chicago White Sox, but he's gone Under 6.5 strikeouts in eight of his 13 starts thus far in 2024. That includes each of his last two appearances.
The Red Sox whiff in bunches, and they've recorded the third-most strikeouts leaguewide. But they're coming off a series in which the Phillies' imposing starters who have notched the most strikeouts in MLB combined t o strike out Boston batters just eight times across three games.
Although Gil could shine on Friday, this strikeout total for him feels too high. Pinnacle, which features one of the most respected trading teams in the sports betting industry, is pricing the Under 6.5 way down at -152. All of our best sports betting sites are sitting far longer, with bet365 at -115, and Draftkings and Caesars at -125. However, hurl yourself at the -104 from FanDuel.
A successful $10 wager at these -104 odds from FanDuel would result in a $19.62 payout, with an implied win probability of 50.98%.

It's hard to resist going back to this well ahead of a matchup against Red Sox Starter Brayan Bello.
He's been struggling overall en route to a career-worst 4.78 ERA, a number that's ballooned recently with Bello getting shelled over his last two outings. He gave up five runs to the lowly White Sox and four to the Detroit Tigers and their 18th-ranked offense. His batting average against across those two outings was an astronomical .362 as well. This is all coming after Bello posted a 5.66 ERA in May.
Predictably, he spirals even more against lefties, giving up an .818 OPS compared to a .678 against righties.
Meanwhile, Soto has been clobbering anything and everything while owning MLB's second-best OPS at 1.025. His Baseball Savant page is unsurprisingly dripping with red, but his expected slugging percentage stands out most for this wager. It sits in the top 1% leaguewide at .654 , and his actual slugging percentage is .592. Soto is underperforming despite dominating, which is some scary stuff.
A $10 wager at these +100 odds from Caesars would result in a $20 payout, with an implied probability of 50%.
