It all comes down to this. It’s Game 5 with a trip to the ALCS on the line as the' Cleveland Guardians take one last trip to the Bronx to take on the New York Yankees.
After blowing a lead in Game 3, the Yankees evened up the series Sunday night with a triumphant effort by Gerrit Cole. Now the fate of both teams lies in the balance.
Getting the ball for New York will be Jameson Taillon. Taillon received a rude welcome in his first postseason appearance as the Guardians tagged him for three straight hits scoring two runs in Game 2 of this series. Now he’ll look for redemption in his regular role as a starter.
Opposing him for Cleveland will be Aaron Civale. Unlike Taillon, Civale has yet to appear in the postseason, but we did see him getting hot in the pen on a few occasions. Otherwise, he has not stepped on a big league mound since October 5th. However, he did finish the regular season strong, but can his late stretch of success continue when his team needs him the most?
