It’s a battle of Big East opponents in search of a victory on the hardwood as a pair of teams collide in the Cornhusker State. The Xavier Musketeers are on the road as they make the trip to take on the #18 Creighton Bluejays Tuesday night. Xavier escaped with a 92-91 win over Georgetown at home Friday night in their previous game, though they failed to cover the line as a 12-point underdog. Creighton outlasted Seton Hall in triple-overtime on the road Saturday in their previous game, covering the line as a 1.5-point favorite. In the all-time series between the programs, the Musketeers own a 20-15 advantage, including an 82-60 win in the semifinals of the Big East Tournament in the most recent meeting on March 10, 2023.

Xavier won their third straight game as they managed to rally past Georgetown to avoid what be a disappointing home loss Friday night. The Musketeers improved to 10-8 overall and stand tied for fourth in the Big East with a 4-3 conference mark. Against Creighton, Xavier trailed 7-1 out of the gate and found themselves down 14 with 7:53 to play in the first half before cutting the margin to five at intermission. The Musketeers saw the deficit reach 12 again with 16:24 to play before regrouping. Xavier trailed by five with 3:18 to play but closed the game on a 10-4 run, capped by a dunk with 30 seconds to play, to earn the win. The Musketeers shot an even 50% from the field, including eight of 25 from three-point range, and held Georgetown to 42.9% shooting in the game. Quincy Olivari led Xavier with 27 points and six rebounds in the victory.

The Musketeers are averaging 76.7 points per game so far this season, putting them 117th in scoring offense on the year. Xavier pulls down an average of 40.2 rebounds a night (32nd) while dishing out 17.5 assists (21st) per contest. The Musketeers are slightly above average on the defensive end of the floor as they are allowing 70.9 points a game, leaving them 153rd in scoring defense. Quincy Olivari leads the team as he averages 18.1 points plus 4.9 rebounds per game this season.
