Wyoming Cowboys (6-13) vs. UNLV Rebels (12-7)

Week 12 of the 2022-23 college basketball season goes on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, with the Wyoming Cowboys taking on the UNLV Rebels in the Mountain West Conference showdown at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

These two schools meet for the first time since March 10, 2022, when Wyoming beat UNLV 59-56 as a 1.5-point fave in the quarterfinals of the MWC championship tournament. The Cowboys open as 7-point road dogs this time around, while the totals sit at 142.0 points.

The Wyoming Cowboys (6-13; 6-11-1 ATS; 1-6 conf.) finally break out of their slump last Saturday. They outlasted Colorado State 58-57 as 1-point home underdogs, putting an end to an eight-game losing streak. The Cowboys blew a 16-point lead but found a way to escape with a victory, as sophomore guard Noah Reynolds made one of his two free throws with five seconds left on the clock in the second half.

Reynolds finished with 17 points and a couple of rebounds, while junior guard Ethan Anderson had 13 points, five boards, and two assists. The Cowboys shot just 40.4% from the field (6-for-26 from deep) and missed five of their 11 attempts from the foul line, but they also forced the Rams into 18 turnovers.

Wyoming is now No. 199 in the NCAA NET Rankings and No. 161 in the KenPom rankings. The Cowboys score 107.2 points per 100 possessions (108th in the country) on 45.4% shooting from the field, and Noah Reynolds leads the way with 15.1 points per game. Wyoming needs more from its defense, as the Cowboys surrender 106.7 points per 100 possessions (237th) on 53.0% shooting from inside the arc (322nd) and 35.3% from downtown (279th).
