The Wyoming Cowboys come into this non-conference matchup following a disappointing showing in the Virgin Islands Paradise tournament over the Thanksgiving break. The Cowboys won their opener over Howard University before dropping each of the final two games before leaving the island. On Monday, the Cowboys fell to Boston College, out of the ACC, by a score of 59-48. The Cowboys were led by Ethan Anderson, who scored 11 points and added five rebounds in the loss. Noah Reynolds added eight pints and Jeremiah Oden contributed nine points and five rebounds. The Cowboys offense continued to struggle, shooting just 40% from the field overall and 26% from 3pt range.

“When you have the top two players on the floor it is going to be tough offensively, it is no excuse, but find a team that wouldn't have problems against an ACC opponent,” UW head coach Jeff Linder said. “I thought the energy was there, but you have to make shoots. We left it on the floor and played a team that had a sense of desperation. We have to keep growing.”

The Cowboys have been mediocre out the gates this season after earning a tournament berth last season. They are averaging 72.5 points per game and have a +5.2 average point differential. They are shooting 44% from the field overall and 34% from long range. The Cowboys are getting to the line this season, with a 14.2 – 10.3 free throws per game edge. Unfortunately, the Cowboys are shooting just 69% from the line as a team. Wyoming has been averaging 35 rebounds per game and have a slight edge, +2.7, in rebounds per game. Lastly, the Cowboys are turning the ball over 13.5 times per game and forcing nearly 15 times per game for a +1.2 turnover differential this season.
