Wyoming Cowboys (5-7) vs. Fresno State Bulldogs (4-7)

The Mountain West Conference play starts Wednesday, December 28, 2022, and the Wyoming Cowboys head to Save Mart Center in Fresno, California, to square off against the Wyoming Cowboys with the tip-off at 11:00 PM ET. 

The Cowboys aim for their third straight victory over the Bulldogs. Last season, Wyoming won a couple of dramatic battles against Fresno State, 61-59 and 68-64. The Cowboys open as small 1-point road underdogs, while the totals are listed at 128.0 points.

The Wyoming Cowboys (5-7; 3-7-1 ATS) have dropped six of their last eight games overall including the previous two. Their last two defeats have come at the neutral site against Dayton 66-49 and Saint Mary’s 66-54. Last Wednesday, the Cowboys failed to cover an 8.5-point spread against the Gaels in the Jerry Colangelo Classic at Footprint Center in Phoenix. They shot 50.0% from the field but also turned the ball over 19 times while allowing 16 offensive rebounds. 

Sophomore guard Noah Reynolds had 21 points versus Saint Mary’s, going 8-for-13 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Reynolds has been Wyoming’s best player so far this season, tallying 14.7 points per game, while senior guard Hunter Maldonado is posting 12.2 points, 4.2 rebo unds, and 3.6 assists a night. 

Wyoming is No. 218 in the NCAA NET Rankings, as all of its four wins have come in Quadrant 4 games. KenPom has Wyoming at No. 124, and the Cowboys score 107.3 points per 100 possessions (74th in the nation) while yielding 104.0 in a return (215th). They lean on 3-point shooting, making 9.2 triples per contest (44th). But the Cowboys’ defense ranks 300th in 2-point percentage (52.1%) and 267th in 3-point percentage (34.8%).
