The Washington Wizards and the New York Knicks duke it out at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in a real funk as they’ve lost five of their last six games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting beaten by the Warriors in a 127-118 loss on Monday. Kristaps Porzingis led the team with 32 points on nine of 15 shooting, Monte Morris added 17 points with 10 assists while Kyle Kuzma and Rui Hachimura each scored 16 points. As a team, the Wizards shot 48 percent from the field and 14 of 35 from the 3-point line as they made a run in the third quarter to take the lead after leaking 69 points in the first half, but they allowed the Warriors to go on a 15-6 run to pull away in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in great form as they’ve won seven of their last nine games, but they will be hoping to bounce back after having their three-game win streak halted by the Raptors in a 123-121 overtime loss on Monday. RJ Barrett led the team with 32 points, Jalen Brunson added 26 points while Julius Randle chipped in with 21 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists. As a team, the Knicks shot 42 percent from the field and nine of 31 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control when they led by 10 points in the third quarter, but they squandered that lead in the fourth quarter and came up painfully short in overtime where the Raptors opened with an 11-6 run to slip away in the end.
