The Milwaukee Panthers and Purdue Boilermakers face off on Tuesday in a college basketball showdown at Mackey Arena.
Milwaukee has a game on Monday against the Milwaukee School of Engineering before facing Purdue on Tuesday. Milwaukee had high expectations heading into last season, but they were very disappointing and that led to a coaching change. The Panthers brought in Bart Landry who was a dominant coach at the D2 level at Queens. He then went to High Point and helped turn around that program too. This roster looks a lot different this season, but they did bring in some big pieces. Angelo Stuart was a star at the JUCO level averaging 21.5 points per game. He can really light it up from deep and they are going to need his shooting in this game to help find success.
On the other side of this matchup is Purdue who went through a lot of changes with the roster this offseason. Trevion Williams and Sasha Stefanovic are gone, and those are big losses. Zach Edey averaged 14.4 points while shooting 46 percent from the field and 35.8 percent from behind the three-point line. This is going to be a young team with four new freshmen brought in, and they all could play a big role. David Jenkins Jr. has already played for three different college teams, but he hopes to close out his college career in style with Purdue. In this game, Edey is a mismatch and if doesn’t dominate, that would be a very big disappointment.
