Wisconsin-Green Bay (Green Bay) vs. Georgetown Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 11-12-2022

Green Bay will be looking to bounce back from a blowout season-opening loss when it faces Georgetown on Saturday morning. The Phoenix were unable to overcome 17 turnovers in an 8-53 loss at Indiana State on Monday. Georgetown was able to snap its 21-game losing streak from last season in an overtime win against Coppin State on Tuesday.

Green Bay could be in for another long season. The Phoenix were one of the worst teams in college basketball last year, winning just five of their 30 games. They suffered a 38-point loss to Wisconsin in their tough non-conference game, so they will be trying to avoid a similar result on Saturday. Green Bay got off to a slow start on Monday against Indiana State, committing 17 turnovers and dishing out just six assists in the 80-53 loss. The Phoenix are going to need some time to form cohesion with each other, as their top three scorers from last season all decided to transfer in the offseason.

Head coach Will Ryan went to the junior college ranks for help, and those ju-co players will need to make an immediate impact. Transfer Davin Zeigler led the way in the loss to Indiana State, scoring 19 points and grabbing eight rebounds, which were both team highs. Wings Zae Blake, Clarence Cummings III and Randy Tucker are all junior college transfers who played impactful minutes on Monday as well. Cade Meyer (9.1 points, 4.3 rebounds per game) and Nate Jenkins (6.4 points) were the only meaningful returnees from last year’s squad. KenPom expects Green Bay to be one of the worst teams in the country, ranking the Phoenix at No. 355 out of 363 Division I teams.
