We have a Western Conference matchup between the Winnipeg Jets and the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night at Rogers Place. The Jets are second in the Central Division (22-13-1, 45 points) and are coming off a 4-2 home win over the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday. The Oilers are fifth in the Pacific Division (19-15-2, 40 points) and are on the second half of a back-to-back as they faced the Kraken on the road Friday. This will be the first of three games and they do not play again until March 3.

The Winnipeg Jets have been playing well and are coming off a 4-2 home win over the Vancouver Canucks last time out. Center Mark Scheifele led the team as he was able to finish with a hat trick. As a team, they scored four goals on 39 shots, despite winning 48.1 percent of their faceoffs. They scored on two of their four power play attempts. Defensively, they did a solid job as they did not allow any goals on two power play opportunities. Connor Hellebuyck had a good game as he gave up two goals on 22 shot attempts so he needs to continue improving to continue building momentum.

This offense has been average this season as they are 15th in the NHL with 116 goals scored thus far. They have a bunch of players stepping up, with Morrissey leading the team as he has 42 point s (six goals, 36 assists) to begin the season and is dominant on the ice. Defensively, they are also a top team as they are fifth in the league with 94 goals conceded as well. They have a great overall roster that is buying in together so they need to continue playing as a unit and they will be in a great spot.
