The William & Mary Tribe visits Jerry Richardson Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina on Friday to play the Charlotte 49ers. Last season, William & Mary finished 6-5 overall and 4-4 in the Colonial Athletic Association, which was seventh. William & Mary is predicted to move up to fourth in the Colonial Athletic Association in 2022.' William & Mary started the season 6-2 last year but lost each of their three during November.

William & Mary has a pair of talented quarterbacks in Darius Wilson and Hollis Mathis. Bronson Yoder returns as the lead running back and last season rushed for 622 yards and will be joined by Donavyn Lester who rushed for 519 yards. Defensive end Nate Lynn, who is the CAA preseason Defensive Player of the Year, is the key to success for William & Mary with his rushing of the quarterback and stopping the run.

Charlotte is 0-1 following its disappointing 43-13 loss on the road to Florida Atlantic on Saturday. Charlotte fell behind 26-7 at halftime and things did not get any better after the break as the 49ers were outscored 17-6 in the second half. Charlotte's offense was held to just 279 yards and the 49ers defense gave up 482 yards of total offense to the Owls.

Chris Williams passed for 196 yards and two touchdowns for Charlotte, while running back Shadrich Byrd rushed for 51 yards. Grant DuBose caught four passes for 89 yards and two touchdowns for the 49ers. Davondre Robinson was the leading tackler for Charlotte with seven, while three others had six tackles apiece.
