Which MLB Ballpark Had the First Retractable Roof?

The first MLB ballpark to have a functional, fully retractable roof was Toronto’s SkyDome, now called the Rogers Centre, which opened in 1989. Montreal’s Olympic Stadium also had a retractable roof, but due to operational issues, it was replaced with a permanent fixed roof.

As of 2023, there are seven MLB ballparks with retractable roofs – American Family Field (Milwaukee Brewers), Chase Field (Arizona Diamondbacks), Globe Life Field (Texas Rangers), loanDepot park (Miami Marlins), Minute Maid Park (Houston Astros), Rogers Centre (Toronto Blue Jays), and T-Mobile Park (Seattle Mariners).
