When Is Miguel Cabrera Retiring?

In November 2022, Miguel Cabrera announced that he would likely retire after the 2023 season when his eight-year, $248 million contract with the Tigers expires. He confirmed that this would be the case in February 2023 during spring training, and stated that he would like to stay with the organization in a capacity where he could help younger players.

How Long Has Miguel Cabrera Played?

Cabrera made his MLB debut on June 20, 2003, for the Florida Marlins. He was traded to the Tigers on Dec. 5, 2007. During his career, the 12-time All-Star (2004-2007, 2010-2016, 2022) has won seven Silver Slugger Awards (2005, 2006, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016), two AL MVP awards (2012, 2013), and a World Series title (2003).

The 2023 season is Cabrera’s 21st year in the majors and 16th with the Tigers.
